Berks Branch TOMCC Nacelle Report – Feb 2021
No-one was riding home for Christmas this year as the whole of Berkshire was put into tier 4 less than a week before, so we were all home alone for a quiet Christmas.
Sadly, long term member, Sid Rose, passed away at the end of November. Sid was very active in the Branch, going on many rides, rallies and trips and a regular on Thursday nights. He had also been an Observer at our local IAM group. Our thoughts are with his wife June and daughters, Tina and Janette. A group from the Branch rode in formation in front of his hearse as it arrived for his funeral. Sadly, because of the COVID restrictions on numbers, we could only stand outside to give our respects. A floral tribute to Sid in the shape of a Triumph motorbike was displayed in the window of our local Triumph dealer. He will be missed.
The annual Reading Toy Run in aid of Barnado’s couldn’t be held this year because of COVID, but we did not want the children to miss out, so a number of drop off points were set up for local bikers to deliver toys to. Our vice chairman, “man with a van” Derek, manned one of the points and a number of members dropped off toys.
With no physical club nights allowed, we held weekly Zoom meetings on Thursday nights at 8pm each week.
I wish all our members a Happier New Year for 2021.
Keep on rolling!
