Mike’s Bike. An entry in our 2020 Online Old Motorcycle Gathering.

I have owned this bike since 2007. This is a 1970 uk version of the T120 and the last year with an external oil tank. Recently it has undergone a substantial overhaul from the crankshaft up which has been reground and balanced and attention given to many details during the rebuild. It was originally points ignition but a Pazon Altair electonic ignition has been fitted.

This Tiger Cub has been in our family for years and has been owned by both my brothers Richard and Chas. It’s a great bike and we have all enjoyed riding it . A few years ago Richard suggested that we should restore the Cub back to original specification. After a number of years and also restoring Richards Thruxton in between, the Cub is now finished. I got it running a few weeks ago and was desperate to get it to the bike shows . You rarely see many Cubs at shows . Hope you like it cheers Greg.

The Bike was originally shipped to Sri Lanka supposedly as a demo bike and was then eventually acquired by a Massey Ferguson Rep based in Singapore. It then followed him around the globe before ending up back in the UK some 5 years ago when it had a full engine overhaul.
Unfortunately the overhaul wasn’t the best to say the least but I know have it running as it should do and it does great service on Berkshire VMCC runs.

1972 TR5t 500cc. This bike came back from America in 2000, was dated by the club in 2001 as a 1972. The engine is 1 month newer for some reason. The bike which looked ok when bought was unrideable with many issues, but after much work now runs really lovely as long as you are not in a hurry, very light and handles really well.

I have owned the bike since 2004 which was partially restored by the previous owner after being re-imported from the U.S. around 2000.
I have taken the bike on 2 tours of France with the club covering approximately 1000 miles on each tour. Over the years I have corrected a number of issues with the bike and it is now running exceptionally well apart from being stabled due to the lockdown. It is a great bike to ride and is light and very fast with exceptional acceleration up to 60 mph for 500cc.

I bought this bike in 2007. It had some work on it and looked in reasonable condition and ran, but it had the wrong shaped tank on it and had been poorly painted so the paint was starting to blister. I then started to discover a lot of problems and some time after I got it the engine seized. I bought a second hand tank and had it painted, together with the mudguards in the correct 1969 colours (olympic flame and silver). I rebuilt the engine myself(replacing the clutch and alternator, bearings, seals etc), using a combination of the official workshop manual and Hughie Hancox’s DVDs as a guide.
Jame’s Bike. After 4 years of searching, I found my fathers old bike for sale. He used to ride it up and down the Kings Road in London in 1962, commuting from work at Peter Jones to Wandsworth common. This is where my parents met, so she is now reunited with the family.
