Supporting the Air Ambulance

Last year we raised £165.00 for the Thames Valley Air Ambulance at our bike events and other events where we had our Branch stand. Their service helps protect, save and revive lives in emergency situations. See here for more details about what they do. See the letter of thanks we received from Thames Valley Air Ambulance below. We plan to continue to support the Air Ambulance service through 2024.

Supporting the NABD

Last year we raised £110.00 for the National Association for Bikers with a Disability (NABD) at our bike events and other events where we had our Branch stand.

The NABD assists thousands of disabled people to enjoy the freedom and independence of motorcycling. They do this by enabling people to get the essential adaptions to their machines which will allow them to take their rightful place in the motorcycling community. See here for more details of what the NABD do. See the letter of thanks we received from the NABD below. We plan to continue to support the NABD through 2024.

Bring & Buy Sale 2024 -photos

Wares on sale at this years bring and buy sale

We had a good turn-out for our Thursday evening bring and buy sale. The room was crowded with tables laden with all sorts of motorcycle related items. The bar was open and there was hot food served. See below for some photos of the event.

Triumph T160 1975

Having owned a T150 in the BC years (before children), I always wanted the electric start version.  I thought the styling was better and as I enjoyed the T150 what could be better.

Eric’s T160

I saw this advertised just before Covid lock down.  It had been off the road for 32 years and was going for a lot lower price than the rest. (guess why). I went to collect it on the lock-down Saturday, the engine ran and it had a low mileage. Committed.

Having got it home, it was clear a lot of work was needed, from seized brakes to misfiring, and when running a lot of smoke from the engine. Eventually everything was stripped, cleaned, repaired, replaced and updated.  Apart from its weight I love it.

Ride to Army Flying Museum – Jan 24

Another bunch of members braving the weather for a Sunday ride-out to the Army Flying Museum in Middle Wallop. Great fun, but everyone had to clean their bikes when they got back Here are a couple of photos from the ride.

With no-one else to take the picture, Mick got himself in the picture somehow

First ride of 2024

Getting together in at the start of the ride

Our first ride of 2024 was on Sunday 7th January. After a week of exceptionally heavy rain, the weather changed to dry, but very cold. We met up at the start in our warmest winter clothing with the air temperature just under 4 degrees C and set off for the Jackeroo Cafe at Thruxton race circuit. On route we came to halt at a heavily flooded road. After some hesitation the leader rode slowly through the flood waters, followed by two other brave members. However, the remaining riders turned back and went off to find another route. All were reunited for a hearty breakfast in the warm at the Jackeroo. Here are a couple of photos of the ride.

Welcome to 2024

Happy New Year to all our members. We had around 100 activities together last year. Have a look at our Review of 2023 to look back on some of what we got up to during the year. We are planning more fun for next year. Have a look at our Events page to see those that are already confirmed for 2024. There’s a lot more being planned and we will add them to the events page as they get confirmed.

Review of 2023

Branch members out for a ride in June 2023

Looking back at 2023 we’ve seen lots of new faces at both our ride-outs and club nights. Its been a busy year for the Branch. We’ve met every Thursday with turnouts of 20 plus in the winter months, around 40 on dry summer nights and more than 50 turned out to hear Norman Hyde speak in March. We’ve had 44 rides organised this year. We’ve also had two lunchtime bike meets, our own Old Motorcycle Gathering and we’ve taken our Branch stand to several other shows including the Swallowfield Show and Dr B’s. We joined in the annual Toy Run and Easter Egg runs, went to Sammy Miller’s Triumph day and Bulldog Triumphs Launch day. We had a quiz night, a BBQ and a bring and buy sale. Altogether, we’ve had around 100 events for Branch members to meet together. See below for some photos of the year.
