Nacelle Report – July 25

Below is the report published in the July 2025 issue of Nacelle, which covered Branch activities in May 2025

As the dry weather continued into May, our first outdoor event of the season, The Spring Meet, saw well over 100 bikes in attendance.  As is with all our meets and show we had a charitable collection and on this occasion it was for Blood Bikes.  There were 2 riders from Blood Bikes, with their machines on display, to answer questions about the organisation and a total of £188.68 was raised.  With the BCSA bar and Natalie’s Catering purveying sustenance and the fine weather, a great time was had by all who came.

A couple of weekends later was the DGR and several distinguished members of the branch joined up with Bulldog Triumph, who had organised a ride-out to White Waltham, home of the West London Aero Club.  Over £1200 was raised here for this motorcycling charity which supports the Movember Foundation.  Well done to all who gave and participated.

A DGR branch member on a what?!?! Who said plastic Maggot?

The same weekend saw 4 branch members (El Zorro, Steelie, Ton-up Ted & Bibendum) depart on a weeks tour of Northern Ireland.  Much to their surprise waterproofs were unnecessary in the province and a grand time was had by all riding over 1500 miles during the week.

After a week of dry weather riding in Northern Ireland, who wouldn’t be smiling?

Looking forward to future branch events, we’ll be holding our annual Barbecue on Thursday 3rd July.  So come along for some great food, superb raffle prizes and sparkling conversations.  If you come by bike you may well be surprised and be the recipient of the “Steve Butcher Award”, for best branch member’s bike, which will be presented on the evening.

Two weeks later a new event will be held at the BCSA on the 17th July; an evening Autojumble.  So come along to club night and bring along those items you wish to move on.

Evening events officially start at 8pm, but the BCSA bar opens at 7pm for those with a thirst…

Summer Bring & Buy Sale- 2025

Our winter time bring & buy sale was very popular, so this year we thought we’d do one in the summer as well. This will give us more space as we can be outside on the grass as well as inside in the bar.

So on Thursday 17 July 2025, we will having a bring and buy sale (aka autojumble) sale for motorcycle related stuff at the BCSA at our Thursday club night, from 8pm to 10pm. So if you have any: motorcycle clothing, parts, tools, accessories or books that you no longer want, bring them along.

Just turn up with your stuff and lay it out on a table in the bar or on the lawn in front of the building and see if anyone wants to buy it.

Or just come along and browse through what is on offer. You might just grab a bargain.

Food, drink and endless chat about motorbikes is also on offer as on all other Thursday club nights.

See here for photos of our Bring & Buy Sale in January 2025.

We will have our Branch stand with a display of bikes all weekend (Friday to Sunday) at the Thruxton Retro from 20-22 June 2025. So if you’re planning on coming to the event, drop in at our stand and see us. This looks like being a great weekend of fun.

See here for more details of the event from the organisers.

Northern Ireland Tour 2025

Four Berkshire Branch members at Magheracross

Four members of the Branch went on a one week trip to Northern Ireland riding their Triumphs. They rode up to Scotland, stayed overnight in Dumfries, and then took the ferry to Belfast and rode on to Stewartstown in the centre of the province. For each of the next four days they set off to explore a different part of Northern Ireland on their bikes. They then rode back home with an overnight stop in Kirkby Lonsdale in Cumbria. They each covered well over 1500 miles on the trip. Here are some photos of the trip.

Below is a couple of videos of the tour.

The first shows the highlights of all the places we visited.

The second one shows some of the riding we did taken with a camera on one of the bikes.

An article about this tour was published in Nacelle, the TOMCC magazine, in the December 2025 issue. Click here to read the article.

Supporting the Blood Bikes

Representatives from Blood Bikes at our Lunchtime Bike Meet

We collected £188.68 for the local Blood Bikes group at our Lunchtime Bike Meet at the BCSA in Burghfield on the 3 May 2025. Many thanks to everyone who came and donated. The Blood Bikes group serves the Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Berkshire areas and is staffed by volunteer bikers who ferry vital supplies out of hours between hospitals and other medical centres.

Below is a letter of thanks from the organisation which gives more information about what Blood Bikes do and how the money collected is spent.

Nacelle Report – June 25

Below is the report published in the June 2025 issue of Nacelle, which covered Branch activities in April 2025

With spring now in full bloom, the weather having been mostly dry and recently glorious, many branch members have been really busy out on the roads.  With ride-outs on every Sunday, apart from Easter when the branch had a representation of members at the MAG show held at the BCSA, why not join the regulars in future, the camaraderie is good for the soul. There have also been further ride-outs mid-week by those lucky SOB’s who don’t have to work!

Lucky SOB’s on a scorching mid-week run to the Pathfinder meeting.

So the fun started on the first Saturday of April with our stand at the local Triumph dealer, Bulldog, open day.  The new bike show stands were proudly on display (these state specification and history of the owners bike), so look out for these at future events, a great conversation starter.

The following week both Collin (Treasurer) and Nick (Chair & Webmaster) rode to Rotherham for the National AGM.  Well done lads, but no you can’t claim the petrol money off the branch!

Good Friday was the Berkshire Egg Run, which was well attended by the branch.  A worthy charitable event.

Looking forward we’re holding the Old Motorcycle Gathering on Saturday 28th June at the BCSA starting at 11am.  The chosen charity for this event will be the TV Air Ambulance.  Please make every effort to attend the branch’s main event of the year, all makes welcome and most importantly it’s FREE to enter.  Refreshments will be available, as ever, in the BCSA clubhouse.

Rides to Blackbushe – May 2025

Branch Member’s bikes at Blackbushe Airport

Most of our ride-outs are at the weekend, particularly on Sundays. But we also have mid-week ride-outs as well. A ride to Blackbushe Airport for lunch at the Pathfinder Cafe is a popular destination. There is a regular bike meet there in the summer around lunchtime on Wednesdays. As with all our rides, they are arranged at relatively short notice via our members only Whatsapp Runs Group.

Here are some photos of some recent ride-outs there.

Bike Meet Photos – May 25

The Blood Bikes on display next to the Branch gazebo at our Bike Meet

We had great weather for our first open air bike meet of the year held at the BCSA on the Saturday of the May Bank Holiday weekend. It was warm, dry and sunny without being too hot. More than a 100 bikes came of all types and ages, old and new, including a Vincent, an MZ, Harleys, all the Japanese brands and of course, lots of Triumphs. As well as the normal burgers and chips and bacon rolls, there were paninis, sausage rolls, an amazing range of cakes and ice cream and, of course, a bar serving drinks. See photos of the event below. A couple of volunteers from the Blood Bikes were there with their bikes to explain to visitors what they do and we held a collection for them.

Nacelle Report – May 25

Below is the report published in the May 2025 issue of Nacelle, which covered Branch activities in March 2025

While Digger and I have been touring over 4,000kms of southern India it’s been a busy March back at the branch. John Bottomley’s talk on Ducati development and GP racing was well received and well attended early in the month.

…. in front of a full house

The lack of an official Runs Co-ordinator seems to have focused the faithful and a run has taken place every Sunday, with bonus rides mid-week as well.  Special mention for Graham Steele and his leadership on several occasions.  There’s been new destinations too, so why not join a run one Sunday and give it a go, who knows, you might even enjoy it!

Meanwhile… Graham King, Mick Bennett and Terry West have been touring Spain and happened to bump into Triumph factory representatives who were out there testing new machines.

Looking forward, the first Saturday of May (3rd) sees our first outdoor event of the season, the Spring Meet.  Held at the BCSA from 11am, open to all and most importantly FREE!  Refreshments will of course be available in the clubhouse.

For full details of all our events check out the branch website.

Ride to Solent Airport – April 25

Branch members outside the Zero 5 Cafe at Solent Airport

We had a ride to a new destination, the Zero 5 Cafe at Solent Airport. It was fantastic weather and we had some fast, dry roads. Had some refreshments at the cafe and went outside to watch the aeroplanes. Here are some photos of the ride.
