Brooklands Motorcycle Day – July 25

Brooklands Museum are holding a Motorcycle for all motorcycles on 6 July 2025. Come and admire a staggering legacy of motorcycling at Brooklands matched with a vast display of the best of modern motorcycles. Motorcycle enthusiasts, no matter what they ride or from what era, all are welcome to come and enjoy the spectacle, food stalls and live music.

Test Hill will provide a unique opportunity to see how the pre-War race bikes fare against today’s super-machines. Always a crowd-pleaser, the Hill was constructed in 1909 to test acceleration and power and has been in use for events since the Museum opened. Bookings will be open on the day to allow people to take their own bikes up Test Hill during the session.

Summer Bring & Buy Sale- 2025

Our winter time bring & buy sale was very popular, so this year we thought we’d do one in the summer as well. This will give us more space as we can be outside on the grass as well as inside in the bar.

So on Thursday 17 July 2025, we will having a bring and buy sale (aka autojumble) sale for motorcycle related stuff at the BCSA at our Thursday club night, from 8pm to 10pm. So if you have any: motorcycle clothing, parts, tools, accessories or books that you no longer want, bring them along.

Just turn up with your stuff and lay it out on a table in the bar or on the lawn in front of the building and see if anyone wants to buy it.

Or just come along and browse through what is on offer. You might just grab a bargain.

Food, drink and endless chat about motorbikes is also on offer as on all other Thursday club nights.

See here for photos of our Bring & Buy Sale in January 2025.

John Bottomley – GP Racing Development

500cc GP Race Bikes in action

John Bottomley will be giving a presentation to the TOMCC Berkshire Branch and invited guests on Thursday 6 March 2025, starting at 8pm at the BCSA.

In his presentation he reviews the 500ccc world championship from 1947 until the introduction of the MotoGP format in 2002 and traces the winning machines and the increase in engine performance.

He shows how Ducati fits into this picture and picks up the academic background of the key Ducati designers and the design aspects they introduced. He concludes with a look at as much of the technical detail as he has gleaned regarding Capirossi’s 2002/3 MotoGP bike.

In addition, he answers the question of why they had to put GPS on the bikes. I didn’t know they had. Did you? Come along and find out.
