Triumph Day at Sammy Miller’s – 30 Sept

Sammy Miller’s Motorcycle Museum

The Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum in New Milton (post code BH25 5SZ) is holding a Triumph Day in conjunction with the TOMCC on Saturday 30 September from 10am to 3pm. TOMCC members with get a 20% discount on entry on showing their TOMCC membership card. First arrivals on Triumph’s will park in the Courtyard followed by the main car park. Other bikes can park in the driveway. There will be prizes given. This is great opportunity to see Sammy Miller’s amazing museum and be part of a major gathering of Triumph owners and their bikes.

We will be organising a ride-out to this event for Branch members via our runs Whatsapp group (see details of how to join our runs here).

Swallowfield show – 27-28 Aug 2023

Our Branch stand at the 2022 Swallowfield show

We will have our Branch stand at the Swallowfield Show on Sunday 27 and Monday 28 August 2023 with a display of Triumph bikes. So if you are going to the show, come along to our stand and say hello. We will be in the “Classic Car” area.

If you are a Branch member want to display your bike on our stand, remember you need to inform us before hand, so please get in touch.

Lunchtime Bike Meet – 17 Sept 2023

Our September lunchtime bike meet last year

We are having a Lunchtime Bike Meet on Sunday 17 September April from 11am to 4pm. It’s a great opportunity to meet other riders, see their bikes and have lunch and a drink . All motorcycle and riders are welcome. 

We will be holding a collection for Thames Valley Air Ambulance.

A wide range of food and drink will on sale at the bar.

Summer BBQ – 13 July 23

We’ll be having a BBQ on Thursday 13 July 2023 starting at 7.30 pm for Branch members and their guests instead of our usual weekly club night. It will be held outside at the BCSA where we normally meet. There will be small charge of £2 per head per serving. Drinks will be served and paid for at the bar as usual.

The Old Motorcycle Gathering 2023

The Old Motorcycle Gathering, our show for old bikes, will be held this year on Saturday 17 June 2023  at the Burghfield Community Sports Association (BCSA), James Lane, Burghfield, RG30 3RS. This is near junction 11 of the M4 and is where we hold our Thursday club nights. Click here to see the venue on a map

This show is for all bikes classed as “Historic” vehicles by the DVLA, which currently means bikes manufactured before 1983. The show is open to all marques, but bikes must be ridden to the show. Prizes will be awarded for Best Foreign, Best British and Best Triumph as well as Best in Show.

There is no entry charge.

If you don’t have an old motorcycle, you can still come along on a modern bike. Just leave it in the car park while you look at the old bikes on the lawn.

We will be holding a collection for the National Association for Bikers with a Disability (NABD).

A wide range of food and drink will be on sale at the bar.

Our April lunchtime bike meet last year

We are having a Lunchtime Bike Meet on Sunday 23 April. It’s a great opportunity to meet other riders , see their bikes and have lunch and a drink together to kick off the new riding season. All motorcycle and riders are welcome. As of Sunday morning, BBC Weather forecast for Reading area showing sunshine and low chance of rain between 11am and 4pm. So looking good!!!

Norman Hyde will be giving a presentation on his work with Triumph motorcycles to members and invited guests of the Berkshire Branch of the TOMCC on 23 March 2023 at 8pm at the BCSA.

About Norman Hyde

Norman Hyde joined the Triumph company in 1964.  Working in their racing development department, he was involved in developing some of the most iconic motorcycles ever produced. In 1972, he broke the World Sidecar Land Speed Record, on a Triumph Trident based machine, Road Runner III, which he built himself. His record stood unbeaten for over 35 years. In 1975, he started his own business, developing after market parts for Triumph Motorcycles. He was appointed Patron of the TOMCC in 2018.

In September 2022, Royal Berkshire Branch member Steve Yarwood and long-time riding companion Pete Thornton, embarked on a “journey-of-a-lifetime” to Istanbul; the goal being to cross the Bosphorus into Asia.  This and the return leg visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Sedlec Ossuary, Kutna Hora in the Czech Republic took in 15 countries across Europe.  If this near 5,000 mile tour interests you and you’d like to find out more why not come along to the Royal Berkshire Branch meeting on Thursday 2nd March at 8pm 2023 at the BCSA for Steve’s presentation of his trip on “Mercury”, his trusty Triumph Rocket Roadster.

Annual General Meeting 2023

The 2023 Branch Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on:

Thursday 16 February 2023 at 8.30pm

It will be held at the BCSA as part of our weekly club night. The AGM will start at 8.30pm. All Branch members are welcome to come to the meeting where we review the last year, present the accounts, elect a new committee and discuss plans for the coming year. Branch members can vote, ask questions of the current committee, put forward propositions and join in the discussion. This is an opportunity for all Branch members to have a say in the plans for the Branch during the next year.

People standing for the committee must be full members of the Branch and must be nominated by two other full members at any of the Thursday club nights leading up to the AGM on the nomination sheet that is on the notice board by the bar.

Bring & Buy Sale – 2023

We will be having a bring and buy (Swapmeet) sale for motorcycle related stuff at the BCSA on Thursday 19 January 2023 at our Thursday club night, from 8pm to 10pm. So if you have any: motorcycle clothing, parts, tools, accessories or books that you no longer want, bring them along.

Just turn up with your stuff and lay it out on a table in the bar and see if anyone wants to buy it.

Or just come along and browse through what is on offer. You might just grab a bargain.

Food, drink and endless chat about motorbikes is also on offer as on all other Thursday club nights.
